About Marla

Marla-Courtney-WoodFirst and foremost, I love my job. With over 20 years experience in the floral business, I’ve had the pleasure of learning my art in some of the best shops in the Grand Traverse Area. In 1998 I started my own company designing personalized floral arrangements for weddings and special events. Your wedding is a very special day and deserves full attention to detail, which is where I come in. Floral design is the only way I know how to create magic, and it is an honor to be chosen as a part of your special day. Never one to think inside the box, I have a creative personality and a desire to design in any form. During the off season it’s easy to find me learning a new craft to satisfy my artistic cravings.

Since my business centers around floral for weddings and special events, I don’t have a standard shop that’s open to the public, so there is nothing to distract me from designing your floral arrangements. Focusing my creative energy into weddings and special events allows me to bring your personality front and center through your wedding floral. I don’t do linens, or coordination, there are vendors I can recommend for that, I like to focus 110% on my floral work. In 2011 I was honored to be awarded by Brides magazine for my design work, as well as had the honor of having my work published several times.

A little bit about me, I’m what they call middle aged now I guess but I promise to never act my age. I solve my gray hair problem by putting black and red streaks in it. Music is something I can’t imagine living without, and if there’s a good concert within 300 miles, I’m there! I’m getting pretty good at crocheting. I can’t make a sweater yet but I can make a mean potholder! My absolute dream car is a 1957 Ford Thunderbird (Chartreuse green of course), and I’m absolutely terrified of toads and frogs (kermit is of course excluded). I am blessed to live in such a beautiful area with my husband, our son Logan and our 3 rescued dogs. When I’m not working I’m out on the boat or out in the woods exploring the wonders that Northern Michigan has to offer, often finding inspiration for my floral designs.
